Family Canvas

How can I access Canvas to see what my child is working on?

Parents/Guardians can be given observer rights in Canvas so they can support their child in their class(es). If your child is in elementary school, you will need to reach out to their teacher for help in setting this up. If your child is in middle or high school, you can work with them to create the observer account and link it to their own student account in Canvas. Instructions are given in our "Supporting Your Child in Canvas 101" course.

Parent/Teacher Conferences

Many times questions can be answered and concerns can be resolved as easily as emailing a teacher or by requesting a phone conference with a teacher. Using your FOCUS ID and password, parents can see current grades, assignment grades, attendance and click a box to quickly email your student's teacher. After an email correspondence or phone call has been made, if there are further concerns or questions, please contact your student's assigned clerk to set up a conference time.

Student Requests to See Counselor

The counselors have an open door policy for students -- however, sometimes we are in meetings, parent conferences, conducting seminars, testing, etc. If a student comes to visit us and we are unavailable at that moment, the student should fill out the Request to See Your Counselor slip to make an appointment. These slips are available in the Guidance Lobby and Student Services. Students can drop the request into the mailbox that is attached to their counselor’s door. The counselor will call each student down to the office for a meeting as quickly as possible.

Update Student Contact Information and Clinic Card

Visit FOCUS and log in with your parent username and password to update your Student's Contact Information, Clinic Card, Phone Number, Email, Address, Emergency Contact and Medical Records. If you do not have a parent ID or forgot yours, you can get help at any public school or visit pcsb.org/passwords.

Please note: If you have more than one child attending Pinellas County Schools, you will need to update information for each child.

First Contact

Providing crisis intervention and essential community information; connecting you to hope and help.

As of October 2, 2024, 211 Tampa Bay Cares is officially rebranding to First Contact. This new name reflects our mission to be the first point of contact for individuals, families, and seniors in need, while continuing to expand the critical services we provide.

The new name, First Contact, captures our role as a trusted lifeline for those seeking assistance, not only through our well-known 211 services but also as the provider of 988 Suicide and Crisis Lifeline services for those in need of mental health support. We operate several specialized hotlines that serve survivors of sexual assault, veterans, first responders, and seniors, ensuring that vulnerable populations in our community receive the care and assistance they deserve. Additionally, First Contact offers financial assistance for adults without minor children, addressing an often-overlooked segment of our community.
